Q: With all that said, what do you think is next for lighting controls?
A: That’s the fun part because we’re still figuring it out. But I can tell you this: Lighting is in a unique position. Because it’s everywhere. Over every space. It already has a power source. Already has a network connection. Already has sensors installed.
So, the question becomes: What else can we do?
We are seeing lighting fixtures become platforms for all kinds of building intelligence like asset tracking, environmental monitoring, people counting and even real-time wayfinding because the foundation is there. It’s just a matter of deciding on the ways in which we want to build on it.
And that’s what makes this industry so exciting right now. The trend that’s sticking is lighting that enables smarter decisions across the board.
