Introducing Fire PreventionTechnology that Everyone Can Benefit From

The National Fire Protection Association has revealed that faulty wiring, overloaded circuits, and outdated panels cause over 50,000 U.S. home fires annually.

The New York based company, FireGuard looks to reduce those statistics, alerting clients of these early warning signs before fires happen. 11 years ago, master electrician Mario Padilla began working on FireGuard, which began as a device with a purpose for energy efficiency. That idea later evolved into an unprecedented fire safety device that he hopes will soon be in everyone’s home.

Padilla, who is originally from Honduras, has evolved FireGuard’s design over the years and arrived at the version available now after much tinkering, trial and error. “I initially wanted to develop a device that will help people manage their power, but now the purpose is to reduce hazards and save lives,” said Padilla. “It took a lot of work but we’ve finally got here.”

FireGuard works through a network of smart sensors that monitor circuits and identify instances of overheating or overload that are usual early warning signs for a fire, saving lives and property in the process. Each system is custom installed and tailored to the individual’s panel. Unlike automated systems, FireGuard combines technology with 24/7 human monitoring, ensuring expert intervention before electrical risks turn into emergencies.

Proactive monitoring also gives clients peace of mind, knowing their homes are protected.

Padilla’s son, Mario Jose, followed his father’s path as an electrician and weighed in on the importance of FireGuard’s mission:

“FireGuard was started by myfather almost 11 years ago because he recognized a critical gap in electrical safety. I have personally watched the amount of effort and dedication he has poured into this product, not only as an electrician, but as a father who wanted to keep his own family safe. FireGuard was built with that same mindset, combining real-world electrical expertise with carefully designed technology that monitors abnormal conditions and helps identify potential fire risks before they escalate. For our family, this product has always been about prevention, responsibility, and protecting what matters most.”

“FireGuard is a life saving device that is the first of its kind and helps everybody involved. Homeowners, insurance companies, and building managers can all benefit while drastically reducing the potential for a catastrophic fire,” said publicist Gerard Fitzgerald. “As for community outreach, we’ve made an appearance at the 2026 Long Island Metro Fire/EMS Expo, showcasing the device’s capabilities and meeting with community leaders, fire prevention specialists, and emergency services personnel.”

The company’s main offices are in Mineola and Glendale, working towards providing service to the rest of the country. FireGuard’s central station monitoring service is also incentivized through savings on homeowners insurance premiums. For more information please visit the website, www.FireGuard.org.
