Appleton PlexPower™ Disconnect Switches Simplify Installation and Reduce Downtime in Hazardous Locations

Appleton PlexPower disconnect switches eliminate the need for external conduit or cable sealing, helping facility managers simplify and lower the installation cost of electrical infrastructure in Class I, Division 2 and Class I, Zone 1 hazardous locations. A stainless-steel housing reduces field maintenance downtime because, unlike conventional heavy cast enclosures, there are no bolts to remove in order to access the switch’s interior. As a result, critical industrial processes can go back online faster.

The exceptional performance of PlexPower disconnect switches is necessary in hazardous sites, which are among the most complicated electrical systems to manage. By de-energizing electrical circuits, PlexPower™ disconnect switches enable plant staff to safely perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections or handle emergencies without running the risk of electrical exposure. The external actuators and door latches can be locked out to provide additional safety to maintenance personnel. In hazardous locations where flammable liquids or gases may be present, safety is critical.

Appleton PlexPower™ disconnect switches provide one of the most flexible control solutions in the industry,
and offers the most customer choice, with the ability to accommodate standard, off-the-shelf switches. Standard configurations feature an external actuator, drain and breather. They are available in one to four disconnect configurations up to 60 Amps each, or a single disconnect configuration up to 100 Amps. The voltage rages from 120V to 600V. In addition to hazardous locations, the switches are NEMA 4X rated for protection against corrosion and extreme environments, indoors or outdoors.
