Eaton’s Wiring Devices Expand its Next Generation of Slim Protection Devices

The National Fire Protection Agency’s (NFPA) designates October as Fire Prevention Month, which educates consumers about the risk of home fires and ways to minimize them. Accordingly, Eaton’s Wiring Devices has announced the expansion of its family of slim protection devices to now include AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupting) receptacles.

Designed to recognize dangerous arcs in wiring and immediately break the flow of electricity to help prevent an electrical system from becoming an ignition source for a fire, the next generation Arrow Hart Slim AFCI Receptacle have been redesigned to now feature:

  • A 1.03-inch depth in the electrical box which provides for more room for quick and easy wiring.
  • Wider TEST/RESET buttons making it easier to test and reset the device.
  • An intuitive large reset indicator light for easy identification of a trip incident.
  • An end-of-life indicator light allowing for easy identification of a device failure.

The National Electric Code (NEC) mandates AFCI protection in residential areas such as sunrooms, parlors, libraries, dens, recreational rooms, and closets. Additionally, AFCIs are required in commercial applications like dormitories, guest rooms, nursing homes, police stations and similar locations.
