Appleton™ AGPPX and ASPPX PlexPower™ Distribution Panelboards Cut Downtime in Hazardous Locations

ATEX and IECEx certified panelboards bring standard, off-the-shelf breakers and factory-sealed reliability to Zone 1/21 and Zone 2/22 process environments

Appleton™ AGPPX and ASPPX Series PlexPower™ Distribution Panelboards are a new generation of circuit distribution equipment purpose-built for the demands of petroleum plants, paint or solvent manufacturing, pharmaceutical powder mixing, oil refineries, and other process facilities where flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dusts are a constant operational reality. The distribution panelboards also solve one of the industry’s most persistent pain points: the time, cost, and complexity of servicing circuit breakers in hazardous locations.

Certified to ATEX and IECEx standards for Gas Zones 1 and 2 and Dust Zones 21 and 22, the AGPPX and ASPPX panelboards deliver rated protection indoors and outdoors in wet, corrosive, and classified environments. The panelboards are ideal for distribution and control of lighting, heat trace, and power circuits across classified process facilities where reliability and rapid serviceability directly impact plant safety and productivity.

The difference between the two models comes down to enclosure material, since they’re otherwise the same platform:

  • AGPPX Series – Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP) enclosure. This is a lighter-weight, corrosion-resistant, non-metallic option, generally a more economical choice for hazardous-location environments where chemical/corrosion resistance is needed but stainless steel isn’t required.
  • ASPPX Series – Stainless steel enclosure. This is the more rugged, durable option, typically specified for harsher environments such as marine, offshore, heavy washdown, or highly corrosive industrial settings, where stainless steel’s mechanical strength and corrosion resistance are worth the added cost and weight.
